Background: Peoples Recruitment supplies a range of staff to a number of
different industries. To save time and money, they conduct initial
interviews with candidates over the phone.
Quite often, details given during the call – for example candidate
experience, previous salaries, qualifications etc – differ from
what's actually on a CV or provided during an in–person interview.
Jill explains: "Potential employers regularly enquire about the first
interviews with candidates conducted over the phone, and often ask if we can
supply a recording of such an interview. Aside from confirming details,
hearing what a candidate sounds like over the phone can give them a first
impression of the candidate and can be particularly helpful in vetting
candidates for posts as secretaries, call centre staff, or customer services
advisors.
Now over 50% of our candidate calls are automatically recorded, and we make
full use of the 'tagging' system Record Your Call offers, tagging
each recording with a unique internal candidate reference. This makes it
really easy for us to go onto the site, search for that candidate, and
download their call. We also use the auto tagging service so if we forget
to add a tag, it automatically adds a tag for us if we call the candidate
several times.
Another feature we find useful is the "numbers I call from"
feature. Even if I find myself driving down the motorway on the way to see
a client, I can continue to interview candidates while I’m travelling, and
the calls are still recorded and stored online.
Hopefully, we should not have to download recordings that often, however
the peace of mind that comes from knowing that we've got a recording of
every important phone conversation is invaluable, and the recordings also
serve as a good training tool for new recruitment advisors.
